It also looks at characteristics that make some people more vulnerable to predators. We use it alongside the dramatisation of events in Rochdale, 'Three Girls'. Some activities can be completed independently but there is plenty scope for class discussion. I am North-East based so I have included information about Operation Sanctuary. A 24 page workbook which begins with different forms of ACTION taken by campaign groups to force change (direct, indirect and illegal) Then work on the action taken by a number of groups: The Suffragettes, The IRA, THE EDL and ISIL/ISIS. The texts can be read alongside youtube clips or pupils can simply answer the comprehension questions. Pupils assess how 'EXTREME' these actions are after working on the definition of EXTREMISM. It moves through to TERRORISM and how terrorist organisation recruit young people, how people become RADICALISED and what you should do if you suspect someone is being radicalised. Small, individual tasks are included (mix and match tasks, colour-coded tasks, definition tasks and other puzzles. This definitely needs teacher input and I have tried to keep it as factual as possible but in as simple a form as possible. There will be a corresponding PPT added soon. A challenging topic that now needs to be part of the PSHE/Citizenship curriculum.
